Maribou State – “The Clown” (Feat. Pedestrian)

Maribou State producers Chris Davids and Liam Ivory never sing, so from time to time they’ll enlist vocalists to sketch out a narrative over their house-inflected tracks. The duo’s frequent collaborator Pedestrian — aka Jack Sibley — shows up here, punctuating “The Clown” with paper thin, airy vocals. Sibley lays out a relationship that’s more akin to a fool’s errand, a crumbling connection barely worth preserving. So this song continues Portraits‘ melancholy feel, fitting right alongside the gloomy smear “Raincoats” and tranquil, atmospheric “Rituals.” Listen below.

Portraits is out 6/2 via Counter Records. Pre-order it here.
