Wiz Khalifa grew up in Pittsburgh where he attended Taylor High School. His stage name is derived from Khalifa (in Arabic: successor), in tribute to his grandfather who was Muslim (Wiz Khalifa is however Christian) And wisdom in English: wisdom, which was shortened to Wiz towards the age of fifteen.
Wiz Khalifa released his first mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania in 2005. The mixtape led to his first album entitled Show and Prove in 2006. Rolling Stone Magazine considers him a “watchful” artist.

He toured 20 dates with the rapper Yelawolf, the Deal Or No Deal Tour. Khalifa then released the Kush & Orange Juice mixtape which has been a free download since April 14, 2010. Thanks to the dedication of his fans, the mixtape became trending on Twitter with the hashtag #kushandorangejuice and “Kush and Orange Juice download” , was the most searched on Google.
On July 30, 2010, Wiz signed with Atlantic Records. He blew up worldwide after releasing his hit single, “Black and Yellow,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually sold over 3 millions singles. He has since gone on to release five studio albums.
