Last year UK duo Ultimate Painting — James Hoare (Veronica Falls) and Jack Cooper (Mazes) — graced our ears with their self-titled debut, and their sophomore followup Green Lanes is due this summer. We already heard the lead single “Break The Chain,” and now they’ve shared “(I’ve Got The) Sanctioned Blues,” an easy-listening and jangled track of frustration. It continues their signature ’60s pop with a touch of Velvet Underground and delivers a sweet song of never ending misfortunes. It’s a bad day blues “c’mon man, you made me really late” ballad. Ultimate Painting told Rolling Stone they were inspired by current politics in the UK and the song is the band’s way of making sense of common financial dilemmas. Check it out below.
