The London rapper Skepta has been making music since the early days of grime, and now, thanks to hits like “That’s Not Me” and “Shutdown,” he’s at the forefront of grime’s revival. On the new banger “Can’t See Me Again,” he hooks up with fellow grime veterans Kano and Bashy to rap furious tough shit over a beat that sounds like a spaceship malfunctioning. As FADER points out, the track is slated to appear on Concrete Jungle a new 16-track, 50-artist mixtape of British grime and rap. And when these old grime dudes are locked in, there’s nothing more exciting. Hear all three of these guys in beast mode below.
Concrete Jungle is out 8/28 on Alwayz Recording. I would argue that everything happening with Skepta now should’ve happened with Kano in 2005.
