Maribou State – “Wallflower”

British dance producers Maribou State keep dropping glistening, thoughtful dance tracks, and “Wallflower” is no different. It floats by on pristine, wobbly production, mimicking its wistful namesake. It’s a tough call between my initial favorite, lead single “Rituals” and this one, but the whispered chirps of warped vocal samples and swirling, orchestral climax put this one over the top. Listen, and if you like what you hear, also check out “Raincoats” and “The Clown.”

Portraits will be out 6/1 on Counter.
