Hear Arthur Russell’s “Ocean Movie” From New Collection Of Previously Unreleased Songs

Legendary New York musician Arthur Russell’s work was all over the map — from classical to disco to experimental sound collage to folk — and the roster on Red Hot’s recent Russell tribute proves he’s influenced a lot of amazing musicians over the years. A previously unreleased batch of Russell songs called Corn is coming this summer on Russell archivist Steve Knutson’s Audika label. The first new album of Russell material in seven years, it’s pulled from the same 1982-83 sessions that produced good chunk of 2004’s Calling Out Of Context. Hear the gorgeous, blustery instrumental “Ocean Movie” below.
