Drizzy and Rozay showing solid numbers in their first week.
Drake‘s latest album More Life did not exceed the million mark as with his previous project, the Canadian still managed to sell some 504,609 copies in a short time. An impressive score for a project that wants to be a playlist and that in fact did not benefit from the same promotional means.
More Life can however be proud of having been streamed 300 million times just on Apple Music, a new record. Estimates also predict a figure around 600 million plays across all platforms combined (another record). Physical disks should be available next week, enough to inflate a little more sales.
This is Drake’s seventh number one (in his career only his mixtape So Far Gone missed the check mark), he is now tied with Kanye West and Eminem, but far behind Jay Z and his 13 albums.
Another rapper who released an album last week, Rick Ross has sold 106 000 copies of his Rather You Than Me. A plethora of very good reviews, helped the Bawse boost sales missed second place due to Ed Sheeran still selling 119 000 copies this past week. A performance that is nevertheless a nice progression compared to his last album Black Market which only sold 65 000 copies.
