Fetty Wap, real name Willie Maxwell II was born on June 7, 1990 in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. His family has a taste for music since his mother and father practice singing and playing the piano. He joined his church’s choir. His musical education is also made based on hip-hop of the south and especially of the rapper Gucci Mane. As a child, he developed glaucoma in both eyes and eventually lost the left.

 

In March 2014, Fetty Wap recorded the song “Trap Queen,” which he later posted on his SoundCloud account. The track, which is directly inspired by one of his previous relationships, quickly exceeds one million listens.

 

Also in 2014, Fetty releases his mixtape Up Next presented by DJ Louie Styles.

 

Later, he signed with the label RGF Production and re-recorded a radio version with Tony Fadd. Nine months after its release, thanks to a deal between its label and 300 Entertainement, “Trap Queen” becomes a hit. The song quickly reaches #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

 

Fetty Wap receives the support of artists like Rihanna, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyonce who all admit to loving the song.

 

He takes advantage of his notoriety to highlight his sound and got tons of feature requests from artists like Natalie La Rose, Baauer and especially Gucci Mane. Even Drake contacts him for a remix of “My Way”. In March, he released his mixtape “Zoo Style.”

 

His self titled debut studio album was released in September 2015. The album gained him four Billboard Hot 100 top 40 singles. Fetty was the first artist in history to have his first four songs chart in the top 10 of Billboard’s “Hot Rap Songs” chart.

 

After a motorcycle accident, Fetty Wap was forced to lie in bed and was introduced to the online finance industry by his lawyer and money manager. He quickly became addicted, even taking some money management and stock market classes. As a result, he shared a post on Instagram with the caption: “A very good lawyer and a very good business manager helped me transform 1,3 [million] into 20 [million] Took me a year and I’m just getting started. That’s more money than he would’ve made if he was touring all year.

 

Fetty Wap is now working on his upcoming album, King Zoo which is due out this summer. The first single, “Like A Star” features Nicki Minaj and is already a hit. The future looks very bright for the young artist.
