In 1998, he worked as assistant to the Miami rapper, Luke Campbell, who at the time was on WEDR, The Luke Show. In his albums, Khaled dedicates many songs to his ghetto which prompts people to listen to him. From 2004 to 2006, Khaled was co-producer of Fabolous’s Real Talk, Terror Squad’s True Story, and All or Nothing and Me, Myself and I, two Fat Joe albums. In all of his songs, Khaled screams his name or recalls a little to show that he can be more than a DJ as in Welcome To My Hood Remix, from the album We The Best Forever, where he recites an entire verse.
From 2006 to 2008, Khaled dropped three albums Listennn… the Album, We the Best, and We Global. All three albums were packed with features from everyone like Rick Ross, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Akon and much, much more. All of his albums had singles that ranked well on The Bilboard Hot 100 list.
In 2009 he became president of Def Jam South record label. He dropped two more albums from 2010 to 2012, We the Best Forever, and Kiss the Ring. Both packed with features and major production.
In 2010, he created his own label We The Best Music Group, whose most popular artist is Ace Hood. His label was integrated with YMCMB directed by Birdman, at the beginning of 2012.
In 2013 to 2016, he dropped Suffering from Success, I Changed a Lot and Major Key. All of which were huge commercial success, especially his single with “No New Friends” with Drake which peaked at number 37 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it his sixth top 40 single on that chart. His single “Do You Mind” featuring Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Jeremih, Future, August Alsina and Rick Ross was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
DJ Khaled now has his own We The Best radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 station where he often premieres new music.
He also announced he will be releasing his tenth studio album this year. The first single “Shining” featuring Jay-Z and Beyonce is currently out and doing very well.
Khaed has accomplished a lot as a DJ, probably more than anyone in history which lead to his huge fortune of $20 million.
