Amanda X – “Quilted”

Amanda X’s Amnesia snuck its way onto the list of my favorite albums of 2014, namely because it’s empowering to hear a band sing about sadness and heartbreak and vulnerability while still sounding like a force to be reckoned with. Amanda X is loud, and their live shows take that album and magnify it to the nth degree of fierceness. The Philly-based trio will release a new 7″ toward the end of the month, and we heard their first single “Juniper” that hinges on an image of unrequited love. “Quilted” is its follow-up, a six-minute half-pining, half-frustrated song that narrows in on a single repetitive, torturous thought: “I want to be near you.” Listen below via Impose.

Hundreds And Thousands is out 9/22 via Self Aware Records.
